New Here
I grew up in a very abusive home. I had night terrors up until the time I left my parents house in my early teens as far back as I can remember like even when a little child. I had a bad car accident in 1989 where a bridge collapsed on my car. Had some PTSD. Went through it and didn't have any PTSD stuff until about two years ago. I'm in my fifties. I never connected PTSD with my childhood, just the car accident. Now I'm struggling to figure out where this resurfacing of the PTSD came from. The childhood... or the accident. Or what.

Confused, I guess.

Anyway, do you have night terrors or have you ever had them? Are they associated with PTSD is what I'm trying to figure out.

Hi,
I've had night terrors and I believe they may be connected to PTSD. Mine are few and far between, as I recall having a few in college, a few in grad school, and a few since then.

I had a traumatic childhood and early adulthood, but I became a "normal adult". In my fifties, I started getting flashbacks and nightmares and SI. My T says its not unusual in midlife for this to happen. I wish it hadn't.
