'it is not known what caused the soldiers to faint'
There speaks someone blissfully ignorant of the experience of shifting their weight from one foot to the other for a few hours.............

Hell yeah. If you fall, you have to fall regimentally. Wriggle your toes, anything.
We used to have people go down within 5 minutes. Yes I remember doing two hour parades, and when you finally went to attention with the SLR you hoped your arm was not asleep. Those were the days. Now they have those stupid plastic fantastics. Our federation guard still uses the SLR.

SLR was and is a top weapon. They never broke. Never knew anyone to fail their APWT but for the ones that came close they just gave them an SMG (spray and pray!lol)

That would be me. Spray and pray. From what I gather from the RPG shooters I have played, I am evidently a bullet magnet. If they have body armor good enough, you could just send me out as a decoy.

Same luck with ships as well. Had three almost send me to Davy Jones. Arghhh.

With the SLR you had to use the marksmanship priciples otherwise you would not hit the target.
And if you did not hold it properly it actually gave you a little love tap.
The good thing with the SLR was the fact that it was 7.62 and if you hit anything it stayed down, unlike the plastic 5.56 where you need to be acurate. I can still strip and assemble an SLR in my sleep and do all the drill movements and I have not touched one since 94. Another bonus is the fact that all you needed was breach block in to fire the thing if you were caught out while cleaning it. An awesome weapon.

Then again as I have mentioned in another thread sometime, war has changed. The 7.62 was designed to kill.
The 5.56 was designed to maim so you would have two people on the battle field recovering the wounded.
The dead can wait till the danger has past.

I can`t believe he adjusted his head dress while laying down LMAO f*cking guards, and then when they come and get him, he stands up the f*cking plonker, In my day if you went down, you made sure you didn`t move, and hoped the bayonett went through the shoulder, so you didn`t get beasted afterwards for f*cking up a parade.

What has the world come to

We had a Captain go straight down at attention. He broke his nose and fractured his jaw. When he fell, the RSM said out loud to all the soldiers ' If you are going to go down, that's how you do it', I had to stifle a laugh.

I remember our right dress used to consist of the left arm going out parallel. On the eyes front, I saw so many soldiers scewer their hands on the bayonets of the SLR

Reminds me of forced marching. My da being a Marine as well, he tought me... and as a Marine myself I never EVER dropped from a run or march. Ever. Never lost my place never complained. I knew better. And later when it is for real it made a big difference for me. I remain convinced it saved my life. I once poured blood from my boots. We had such bad boots you could blister , pop the blister and reblister the same spot. All within an hour. I didnt carry extra clothing. I carried 15-20 pairs of socks. My feet still hurt from it.
We were taught to shift weight from foot to foot to allow better blood flow. Your right about the legs and arms going to sleep.
The .223 is going to be replaced. I think 7.62 will become the new American rifle cartridge again. I think the h-scar will be the rifle that gets chosen as well.
