Death NZ had a mass shooting today

I'm trying to stifle a full on panic attack from happening while I'm at my parents' house. The shooting happened about 4 hours ago. I don't know how to deal with this. I don't want to have to know how to deal with this.

I'm so f*cking scared.

I can't get hold of my friend.
She would have been in the area.
Her phone went straight to voicemail.

I've managed to get hold of my friend.
She is safe. I'm so relieved.
But my relief is soon shrouded by fear.

My stress cup is overflowing.
I'm trying to focus on my breathing, and focus on being present. But it is so hard.

All I want to do is cry.

I'm sorry for all these posts, I just need this space... a space... to try to calm the thoughts that are racing around in my head.

So sorry this has happened @bellbird. It’s a terrible, terrible thing.

Here in the UK we have become ‘more used’ to the possibility of attacks here (not that that makes it easy to deal with when they happen). It was a shock to wake up this morning and find that this has happened in NZ.

I’m glad that you are safe. Lots of self care today as you give yourself time and space to process what’s happened and support yourself.

It is shocking bellbird. It's got me rattled too and I'm in Auckland. Deeply concerned that this kind of thing would happen in NZ. I share a house with an Iranian lady and she is extremely disturbed that this may be some start towards targeting muslims here (it is not). We will hear more about this over time but the police did an excellent job in promptly finding at least three of the culprits.

Just in case you are not watching the news (I know many people with ptsd do not). IT IS STILL NOT SAFE OUTSIDE, police is urging people to stay at home. This is what I heard from the German news.
