New Here
I agreed to perform a marriage ceremony for some former co-workers "don't worry, it will be small" they said. Now it is almost here and they have rented a HUGE venue...so I am thinking NOT so small after all. I love the couple who asked me to marry them, and want to do this for them but I am having nightmares that I collapse or freak out up there in the middle of it. If I drank, I would have a couple...but I don't.

Any suggestions?

I don't know, because public speaking freaks me out. However, I think you probably just need to focus on the happy couple. Talk to them directly, and try to forget about how many other people are there. I expect the couple will also be nervous, (possibly more so than you). But marriage is really an intimate service between you and the couple, so just try to keep your focus on them.

Sorry, probably not too helpful? Also just make sure you are well prepared and well practiced in what you need to say.

Ask them how many will be in attendance. Then you'll have real facts to go on, not just feelings. If it is going to be big, go there and rehears.

Try envisioning the end of the ceremony. Happy spectators, relieved groom, ecstatic bride, and the joy of knowing that these two people love you so much they want you to help them begin their lives together.

Good luck, you'll do great!
