Hi Anthony

I've also been getting the Google "Oops" message the past few days. I tried Firefox, just in case Google Chrome was the issue but it gave me a similar message saying that the link appeared to be broken...

I also got the "site maintenance" message once yesterday but that was entirely different from the "Oops" message.

You just hit it on the head... "Google Chrome" which I believe the others where also using as I seen chrome.css in the error that Wendy sent me. It is your browser... chrome is a very restrictive, stripped to the core browser.

No worries. I thought that might be the case as the main page, down the bottom recommends Firefox be used. I might try Firefox again for a while and see what happens...

Anthony,

I have *always* used Firefox, and when I started getting the OPPS error, I switched over to Internet Explorer to see if I could get on with that. I then got a message, Can not find the connection, or can not connect....

If you read back Johnny (I think ) was also getting the OPPS message, and possibly ISH also. I think Frankie too.

Herc uses Internet Explorer also......

Well, I don't use that google chrome thing, so what else do you think it could be????? On days when this happens-----the forum is the ONLY site that gives me the google OOPS! this link is broken message, besides, I use Internet Explorer.

Ok Anthony, I deleted Google tool bar from my browser, I don't have Google Chrome, and the only other Google thing I do have is Google Talk, which I will delete if you think that is the issue.....Let me know, as I really do want to solve this issue......

She Cat - you're right.

I was only using IE and started getting a url message that I couldn't connect to the forum.

A friend e-mailed Anthony and all was good after, so I assumed it was a problem with the Forum's site and tha he had fixed it.

Then it happned again. A friend told me to download Chrome. I did and it worked fine for accessing the Forum.

Later, both IE and Chrome worked fine.

Then I got the "ooops" message on Chrome and couldn't get in for a few hours.

Hi all... I've been doing some research and asking questions of my "techie" friends who are all saying that this isn't an issue with either the browser or the site itself, but has to do with the path that your modem uses to access the site. They explained to me that from each computer, the path to the site varies through different servers, which effectively is a "link" to the site. If just one of those servers is experiencing an issue, then the link will be "broken". They also said that the path that is chosen to access the site is usually the quickest one, meaning that at different times, your computer may be using the same "broken" path at random and unpredictable times...

Not sure if this makes sense to anyone else but it makes sense to me!

Unfortunately, there is no "fix" for it but this is the reason why ANY browser (Google, Firefox and IE) will do the same thing if tried one after the other...

Would be happy to consider other options if anyone has any other suggestions...

Pixie

Well, I am doing everything that Anthony has suggested, and I will also NOW remove Google Talk from my computer. If the issue still continues, then it isn't google......

Done, I deleted it......So I now have NOTHING google on my computer. We shall see if this works or not....UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is absolutely correct Pixie. If you were to draw how you connect to a website, you go through various other servers to get to the site, all of which occurs near instantaneously. If your ISP or routed path has one issue, then it will affect how you get to the site / page.

If something was wrong at the server, it affects everyone or only one person, not a few. Individuals can ban their IP at the server by doing things, knowingly or not. If the server is down or an error, then it will affect every single person trying to access the site / server. There is no inbetween.

I updated the server mysql the other day, which produced an error on ptsd space for one component. This affects every user trying to view the component, because it is a server error missing a file specific to the upgraded version... just as an example.

Heads up....I'm getting in first...apparently due to the increase in size of my business back ups to the server I am partly responsible for clogging up the system or something :naughty::naughty: Can't win around here
