I haven't posted here in a while, but feel the need to share that I took my lovely cat to the vets today and was told he might need surgery! I haven't had the money to take him back after the first vet said he had cat herpes in the eyes over 2 months ago. I finally had the money today so I took him, and she said that firstly I was feeding him too much and he was 1.5 kg overweight which wasn't good for his age and size. So he's on a diet as of today.
I've been experiencing 'mothers guilt' all day since she told me that I inadvertently added to his pain. I felt terrible. I still feel a bit bad about it, as it was suggested to me by women I thought knew what they were talking about, who said they use colloidal silver on their cats eyes to wipe any gunk and kill bacteria...but when I did it I noticed that his lower lid lashes were kinda weird after that...like they had turned inwards and it looked really wrong. There was also a weepiness that came after that, and I knew there was something not right, but didn't have the money to take him back until today...so as it turns out, the little lashes have been scratching his eyeball this whole time, and causing ulcers on his eyeball. :( I feel TERRIBLE about it. Alba even warned me against using colloidal silver on his eyes, but I was sure my other friends wouldn't give me wrong information, and I researched it as well. Their cats did not have the same reaction to it that mr Lion did evidently...
So, the day is over now and he is happily sleeping, with soothing gels and eyedrops and some new medicine, so I fell glad that I finally took him, and that we know what is really going on. I worked it up in my head that the fee for surgery would be in the thousands...so when she showed me the actual fee...which was around $5-600, it didn't seem so bad in comparison. :D I did that well I thought. :D
