I can't seem to stop freaking out about little things. I'm under a lot of pressure right now, I'm out of money and my student loan companies are hounding me everyday about payments. But it's coming out in other ways.

I suddenly can't be in the house alone without locking the door. I can't stop thinking some horrible thing is going to come around the corner, from behind my book, from under my bed. I'm startled by traffic outside, sirens, anything.

But it's also making me extremely irritable. I keep snapping about trivial things like getting the wires of my headphones tangled. Or dropping things. I just get immediately enraged, and if my husband tells me to calm down I get so angry at him!! But I know he's right.

I can't seem to keep my imagination from getting away from me and scaring myself... :(

Hey Magdalen, I can so relate to this type of paranoia and stressed out anxiety. As far as the student loan goes, this may or may not help, but if you can get a deferment this might help, I had a federal loan and although the interest keeps growing, I was able to call and explain that I was undergoing so many issues and unable to pay at that time. I had to fill out some forms and that was that until I got on steadier ground.

That being said, I wonder if you have been Dx'd with PTSD and are seeing someone that can treat you properly. I read some of your earlier posts but may have missed that, but I can surely empathize with your concerns. It's very frightening to feel like you are not able to get your feet under yourself, the constant anxiety, and irritation can be so exhausting.

Please take good care,
Peace,
Rain

Thanks for your reply. I have been officially diagnosed, but my doctor is from a state run health facility for low income people. I'm on medication, and I have access to a mental health doctor but I don't know if she can do much but prescribe me more medicine. The cost per visit is a bit of an issue right now.

Thanks for the suggestion about the deferment! I am currently applying for one based on economic hardship. But until it goes through I assume they'll keep calling.

I think I'm considering raising my dosage of Buspar. I originally started on taking it twice a day, but I went down to one because the side effects (weird brain zapping feeling) were very distracting. But I might need to go back up...

Not meaning to take away your right to "vent" because some times ... it's just needed...but once you have contacted a collector about "making arrangements" any after calls is "Consumer Harassment" and you can report them to the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices. So, if you should get a call wanting to know where, when, why, etc... and you have already spoken with someone about this...just remind them of this and tell that you know these calls are "recorded for 'better customer service' and that all calls further requesting payment while you are in this process can be considered harassment and a complaint will be filed, thank you." There are also individual laws for each state regarding these laws.

As far as the zapping, you might check with the pharmacist about that if you can't speak to your dr, they can be quite helpful about side effects when the dr is not available.
