I'm surprised there is not a separate forum for pain.
I've suffered from migraines since my abuse at 11. I feel my PTSD feeds off pain. Makes me hurt when any anxiety arises. I have a bad toothache now but I keep putting off my appt because I'm just plain out scared to go any more. I've had 5 teeth pulled in the last year because I can't bear the root canal procedure. I have allergy to epinephrine used in numbing so they have to use a different med which only numbs a short time. Then more shots. I don't wanna go under the gas unless my bf can be there He just works too much. I used to go right to sleep at dentist till I had a surgery where u woke up and was in extreme pain but too groggy to tell them I was awake ... Fear. Pain. Who's gonna win? Certainly not me .

I too am suffering from a tooth ache due to an infection from tooth abscess. what you need to do is get some peroxide to clean out the infection and take ibuprofen to help with the pain. My PTSD causes physical pain as well. I have chronic aches in the muscles of my legs and occasionally my arms. it sucks! :(

It surely does. Im sorry to hear u are in pain also. I will try the peroxide. I had oragel but I used it all up
Sometimes I feel so achy all over and I'm just in a horrible mood. I try my best to hide it because a lot of it I know is psychosomatic. Other pains aren't. They are from real conditions. So they take up a lot of my time and interfere with my work

Dental surgery has got to be pretty scary to begin with. And anxiety certainly makes pain worse, it amplifies the pain message. But I think the main problem from what you described is the surgery you had where you woke up in the middle of that. Your brain is probably doing all it can to prevent something like that happening again. It sounds like that could have been traumatic in its own right. But if you explain this to your doctor they can probably make adjustments so that will never happen again. I think one thing is for sure -uncertainty about your problem will only keep you in your present level of anxiety. I would try seeing the dentist, or maybe a different one. I know they have non-traditional dentists now. Hopefully there is a way to find you relief without having to go through the same scary stuff you have already been through. I am sure there has to be something out there, but I am not a dentist etc.

pain for many with ptsd is very common , and with some their pain sensors are either ultra sensitive or feel pain differently and can endure greater levels. Chronic pain is connected to ptsd - the fact that we produce too much cortisol from constant stress wreaks havoc. I have had chronic pain for years , i do take painkillers and have done so for years - i have found recently the more i regulate my emotions, anxiety and so forth the less pain i have - it has gotten to the point where i can reduce or even not have them for good periods of time - i have also found they tend to create flashbacks, etc if you dont keep a consistent does when taking them

Thanks. I believe the new lady dentist I found. Who is my bf's dentist will let him come in and sit with me
Problem is her office was struck by lighting they day of my appt and they haven't opened back up yet
How's that for an omen? :)

I don't take anything but Tylenol or stanback. I've seen so many people in my life get derailed on legit use if loratab
