Many parents -- particularly mothers -- of children born with serious heart defects have symptoms of post-traumatic stress, anxiety or depression. Since compromised parental mental health can lead to long-term health and behavioral problems in children, a new study calls for additional research on the severity and persistence of parental mental health problems and to develop screening and training for parents as part of pediatric cardiac care.

I don't see a place in this article that says how long the mothers were studied. PTSD symptoms need to present over the course of some time before it's considered PTSD, so saying someone experiences its symptoms without qualifying for how long seems a little irresponsible.

It's a bit of the 'PTSD buzzword' thing, isn't it. The point is really about showing symptoms of PTSD and/or anxiety and/or depression. Somehow PTSD rises to the top as being the diagnosis to reference...sigh.
