I have been on paroxetine for many years, sometimes on high dose,but now on somewhat less (3x20mg/day). For me, it is not so much an anti depressant as an anti anxiety med. It has helped with obsessive worrying (stopping it not causing it!).
Coming off it is not fun and should be done gradually, I had to stop taking it abruptly when pregnant, and was only able to take 2x20 mg while breastfeeding.
I was on the higher dose while living unavoidably in a very fraught and demanding situation. But now that I can indulge in a bit more self care I'm reducing the dose, gradually.
As previously said, everyone is different, but for me, it's been very helpful with keeping anxiety at bay.
