We had a troop dog in Bosnia. Holly, a rotweiller, rescued her as a very little puppy in Sarajevo. And (not me, honest) we trained her to go for redcaps. Lovely dog with exquisite taste in headgear......

Great dogs. Right now I have only T's two cats. Have I mentioned that I freaking hate cats? Little bastards always lying in wait for ambush, running across you with claws out in the middle of the night. Although I have taught one of them to play fetch...does that make it a dog surrogate? They are kinda cute though (when they are kittens).
