Phone Stalker

Here's an idea for the d*m phone companies, GEESH. If someone changes their phone number because they have a STALKER, do NOT give that number to someone else!!!! I actually think folks could hold the phone companies liable for this, especially if something awful happened as a result.

My mother keeps getting hang-up calls with her new number. I don't think she has a stalker, but no one asks " Hi, is Suzie there?" or something, just 'click'. Hee, thinking possibly an ex-dealer's number. My last number, I kept getting calls from collection agencies, no mystery there. They were the type which buys out-dated lists, then hassles the bejeesis out of the debtors illegally. BOY did they get a mouthful from me, of course do not believe you when you tell them this is a new phone, no one by the name of Johnny Be Good lives here. What happened to the old feature on cell phones which allowed you to block calls? Phone companies can't have it both ways!

Sorry you have this Whitney, you can also buy those air horns at Walmart. I have several.... :D

Whitney, this will help some if your mobile phone is like mine: add the caller's number to your contacts (under the name anonymous, pain in the rear or whatever), then go to the options menu that allows you to send their calls straight to voicemail. They probably won't leave messages, but you'll have to delete the call notification, which is a pain, but at least it won't ring and it gives you a little bit of control. Until you get the air horn! :D

I had a phone stalker once. Got a whistle. Blew it as loud as I could, and never got called again.

I encourage all my friends to carry a whistle on their keychain. If being bothered or threatened, a loud blow or two will scare off many a species...the last thing they want is loud attention.

Of course, all the kids in my life want to blow it, so I let them ONE time, as loud as they can, but cover my ears first. Um, VERY hard to ignore! And it's painful over the phone!

BEST of luck!

You know, here's something else to think about. For what on earth we all pay for our phones, how about a little, genuine SERVICE? I truly, truly do not feel it is being at all picky or witchy to ask a. Do NOT reassign old stalker numbers to new customers ( DUH ) and b. Give us the option to block calls! This is crazy, poor Whitney having to field this stuff, like it's normal, her having to find her own solutions to something which the phone company should be helping her with. It's MORE than crazy if you think about it, their service being the one which is impeded, their customer the one being inconvienienced. You'd THINK they'd offer solutions instead of charging 100 bucks plus a month for a customer to get calls she can do zero about.

I do think it's time to say 'Enough' to the phone companies. Geesh. This whole thread is nuts, Whitney shouldn't even have had to post it, right?

Mine allows blocking but only a certain number of numbers. I blocked what appeared to be a creditor number, though, if I answered they never said anything, they never left any messages, and called me several times a day. It was beyond annoying and I never knew what company it was for.

I hope this comes to an end soon for you.
