This is a flower one of my students found on a hike and I just figured out that it’s Valerian, which is a valuable herb! There’s also a Canadian Violet in there.

This is a Palo Brea tree. There is a group of them which were planted in a certain grocery store parking lot in my town. They are not common around here like the ubiquitous Palo Verde. In comparison Palo Breas have thicker, more leathery looking “skin”.

Foggy last night so took the scenic drive to get groceries was really beautiful today.....
