Photography Club

My morning diaphragmatic breathing, vagus nerve stimulation via chanting, wake-up, and work-out spot for the days my body is pain-free enough to engage and partake.

The sun bath/singing bowl sound bath/bird song bath tends to be my favorite part of the whole deal, but I'm growing more and more grateful for the ability to simply move and tend to celebrate each and every breath nowadays...

Is the shading on the poppy different colours or a shading technique?
A bit of both! The "outer" petals; horizontal ones were shaded with a single red pencil with varied pressure, "inner" petals; vertical ones were shaded with a pink pencil :)

I rediscovered this photo recently and it gave me a good chuckle.
I had been travelling around the Scottish highlands and desperately craving lamingtons (they're a Kiwi/Aussie thing), and we managed to find one!! Bloody amazing.
So of course I had to take a photo of it with the glorious backdrop, before having noms

This morning on the bus, I sat next to an 82 year old near-blind woman named Joy.

We got talking early in to the journey, and ended up talking for the next two hours.
We shared stories and many laughs.

As the hills to our right made way for the rugged coast line, I described to her what I could see. How the sky was covered with the thin wispy white clouds, but you could still see patches of blue. The sun was shining just over to the left And the ocean looked a slightly murky blue colour, as the waves washed over the jagged rocks.
"are they foamy? -- the waves. I love it when they're foamy."
Yes, they are foamy. And there's a seagull perching on one of the rocks.

We shared with each other our love of jogging. Her reminiscing to runs with her jogging partner, 40 years ago.
I told her about the place that I love to run; along the river.
"I've always wanted to go there.. would you describe it to me?"

Well, my favourite time of day to go jogging, before my spine surgery, was at dawn.
Some mornings it would be so cold that the steam would rise from the still surface of the river, bathed in the golden light of the rising sun. The river would be on my right, and to the left there is native bush. When the path reaches the bridge, there are a couple of flax bushes just to the left. The hungry tūī love to feed from the flax flowers, their heads orange; dusted with pollen.

A smile crept across her face. "It sounds wonderful. I can picture it exactly."

Joy will be having surgery soon, with the aim to significantly improve her sight.

I hope, with all my heart, that you will get to see this, Joy.

My canary in the coal mine of life awareness bookmarks arrived today, @ladee ! :) Looking forward to spreading awareness and planting seeds every chance I get. I have informational pamphlets to go along with them that explain the details at length from cleanerindoorair.org.

I needed a boost of some sort to get my ass out of the house and my head out of my ass (the hubby has a date set for his open heart surgery now and my brain is is turbo "what-ifness" mode)...and this can be the ticket. Thank you again for such a helpful prompt that inspired the notion. (((Hugs)))

The office where I receive neurofeedback recently posted a sign in their lobby asking people to not wear fragrances when attending appointments there now that they're more aware of just how severe the effects can be, especially the neurotoxin aspects.

Yay for them! That's a huge move that no other office has been willing to publicly post...yet.

@Tornadic Thoughts - Preach!!! I had to leave 2 jobs due to scents and also tobacco remnants, and a therapist's office due to perfume. She told me she couldn't say anything to her other client, so I had to change my appointment day/time. Huh? I like the idea of the sign in the lobby. It's kind of like the "turn off your cell phone" sign IMHO. Common courtesy is a good thing. :)

P.S. Lets not even get started on the chemicals used in my apartments by maintenance and those used in the workplace. Uh, Lysol is an effective product, it just gives me a migraine and closes my lungs. The World can be a minefield in this regard.
