Today's scenery....a hickory tree on the property that looks a bit ragged and worn when approaching it from the other direction, but this shot with the sun behind certainly does it justice....

A beautiful bright white rock that appears to be growing out of the ground, surrounded by one of my favorite types of moss beds...(the rocks always remind me of you, @ladee - heart hugs to you)

Pathways among trees planted over 30 years ago, by my husband's father, waiting to be explored....it's like a different world back there...so peaceful...

Stepping back out of the treescape, we were greeted by the moon....and a very rare day of a totally clear blue sky....how refreshing...

They're a bit similar all year round since little sun can get through from the trees being so tall, which I think is what fascinates me the most, @Fahrenheit451 .

The forest floor is covered with tons of dead pine needles and many different cones, the swirly turkey nests are scattered about, the deer scat piles every 20 yards or so, other species leaving their waste behind creating mystery...except for the giant bear piles that are quite easy to identify, the fungus growing heartily, the ferns poking through the needles, and the fallen dead trees of wind and ice storms gone by creating new obstacle courses each year, sometimes each season.

In the Autumn season, there's a whole bunch of invasive Russian (Autumn) olive trees bordering the woods, hanging full of berries that me and the wildlife like to snack on. They're little maroon-ish colored berries with what looks like little stars all over them. They're a bit bitter until after the first freeze, then they're pretty sweet.

The tops of the trees are still vibrant and green, mostly. It keeps me in constant awe and offers a calming meditative space that I love to escape to as often as possible.
