Above: the full image, shot w/ cheap camera!. Using max zoom at 4000x3000 pixels. Moving target in flat (overcast) light.

Above: image cropped (shift C) to exclude unneeded pixels (or contrasting elements). Then hit w/ the Curves command, and then the Unsharp Mask.

The type of bird, unrecognizable before, becomes easy now. An adult male Golden Eagle.

Really fun hobby, excited for those getting into it.

The sparrow hawk is a real pain in the butt. Not long ago it almost got itself tangled up in our holly tree as it left it almost too late to back of from chasing a sparrow.

It has chased a collared dove into next doors window before now, to stun and catch it.

This was also taken through a window. And my back yard is about 70 feet long. The red tailed hawk just finished eating a morning dove. The other pic shows it hiding in my tree.

Iam, it's this nice place with only a narrow path leading up there, so I never see anyone else. I just sit there on a rock and listen to the nothing. zoom out. Its my place :)

An adult male Golden Eagle

James, I'm so jealous! I have wanted to see a Golden Eagle all my life but we only get them in the Scottish Highlands and even then seeing one is hit and miss.

I would love to see a golden eagle too. We do have them here but I have yet to see one.

I haven't seen any dark eyed juncos yet. I usually see them in my yard in late Oct. But it has been a warm autumn. I haven't been to the lighthouse lately to see if the goldeneyes or buffleheads are there yet.
