A politician sees his family every day; a soldier once a year.

A politician flies 1st class; a soldier flies in a C130 or C17.

A politician's pension is not reduced; a soldiers' is clawed 65%.

A politician enjoys an expense account; a soldier must justify extra rations.

A politician vows to defend their country; a soldier actually keeps that promise

Jimmy, I wanted to click Like above, but I don't like it. I hate it but it is so true, every word of it. I just wish it weren't the way it is. Criminals are treated much better than active duty military and Veterans, and the criminals COMPLAIN about it! But the military men and women suck it up and even under the most adverse conditions, go above and beyond.

Sorry, off my soapbox. Could have gone on and on but I can feel my heart racing because it makes me so mad! I know it is a tangent but that is where my head went.

My hat is off to each of you.

Whatever party it is, politicians stink. They know nothing about the realities of life and the way they go around kissing babies makes me sick. They think they are so clever. The world would be a much better place if each country was measured by how they looked after the most vulnerable in society rather than seeking power and dominance over others.

I don't know. It seems a failure of democracy on yet another level in the west.

Representative democracy only works during elections and even that is a sham sometimes. After an election every politician is in a compromised position to either look after voters interest or his/her own career. I.E. to get re-elected. This in itself and the fact that their are now professional politicians, (where 100 years ago you may have had people who actually represented their constituency....were actually from their constituency) makes for a democracy that is hollow and meaningless in many ways.

What did someone tell me here. Hate the game, not the playa.

Take away the conflict of interest potentials completely and I think we could actually have better and more sensitive democracies.

My simple suggestion would of course be constitutional reform where.

Increase term periods. 5 years, 7 years, 10 years. Abolish re-elections. Once you have served you have served. No coming back. Senator one time only, go back to civilian life. MP, one time only then goodbye. No more legacies, no more legends. You got your chance to represent the people that sent your there, do your job and go home.

And also accountability. We live in a modern age. I want to be twittered by my representative. I want to know if the guy is wiping his ass with 2 ply or 4 ply. And if 4 ply, why the hell did he use my money to plump for the luxury.

And on top of that....voter recall. If a majority of voters don't like the job you are doing, you should be sent home. That will make allot of reps think twice about voting for personal gain vs voting for their constituency.

3 simple things. Me for world President. But only 7 years (cuz its lucky), then I quit. Or you kick me out the first sign the PTSD kickin in....probably the inauguration speech.

Yep it's Politics that stinks. :poop:

And it's too complicated for this bear with a little brain. I certainly wouldn't want the job and Wagon, I really don't think you'd want it even for 7 hours :roflmao:

I like the idea of voter recall though. :)

Well. If it is too complicated......that is probably the intention. things need to be simplified.

Constitutions by nature are pretty simple documents. That's the reference point.
