Really gutwrenching scenes out of west London right now, as a massive fire tears through a high-rise. Lots of people feared trapped inside; witnesses say people are trying to scale out of the building using ropes made from sheets. It's a 24-story building, and the entire thing is in flames. So. Absolutely. Sad.

And somehow, I have a feeling this is going to end up being a new trend in terrorism. (They haven't said it's a terrorist act yet, but I don't know, I just have a gut feeling here that this was very deliberate) Hope I'm just being paranoid.

Looks like negligence may be to blame, not terrorism KCTMO – Playing with fire!

Activists had previously warned this would happen due to faulty wiring.

They have no way of knowing what has caused the blaze yet - that investigation won't even start until the fire is out. There's no suggestion of terrorism, and while there's speculation on the part of people who have been concerned about refurbishment works that restricted access to the building, there is no way they could say whether there were electrical problems at this stage.

I feel for those poor souls who have lost their homes, have been caught in the building and those who may loose their life. Again, no fatalities have been reported but I fear it's just a matter of time. Awful situation for all concerned.

I would like to think everyone got out in time, but that just doesn't seem likely, judging by the witness accounts. The whole thing is absolutely horrific, whatever the cause. I would've preferred for the news to be filled with idiotic remarks by politicians rather than this catastrophe.
