I've also been on it for a couple years at 5mg. It works fairly well, with not too many side effects. I still get some nightmares, but my blood pressure went down too much when I took more than 5mg. Good luck.

I was supposed to start prazosin but the doctor thinks that I am already on too much medication. It seems very effective from what I read here maybe I will ask about it again next month. My therapist wants me to consult with a psychologists first, before new meds.

I just started taking this in January. I began with 1MG and it helped a lot. But we decided I needed 2MG and it worked wonders. But the past few weeks, I have been having more bad dreams/nightmares. Even though I can't remember most of my dreams, I can tell that I have been having bad dreams because of how tired or sore I am when I wake up (sore because I move around and fight in my sleep if I'm having nightmares/flashback dreams) So I'm going to ask if it needs to be upped at my next appointment.

The only side effect that I have noticed thus far is that I get dizzy after taking it. So I make sure I am already in bed and ready for sleep before I take it.

I used to have some very disturbing PTSD nightmares before taking prazosin and now I don't anymore. I have been taking it for a little over one year with good results. I have not noticed any side effects. I take 2 mg.

12mg for exactly a year last month. Going to 15 soon

My dosage may seem high but is common for combat related stress. The only side effects i had was when i was weening onto it. Minor dizzyness, headrushes easily.

Helps with most aspects for me, really decreases the terror aspect of it if it happens even while on the meds. Doesnt jelp me with night terrors or tremors/jumping out of bed invoununtarily.

I don't really like, I think it helps some but I still wake up from very emotional dreams, and sometimes it am wide awake in bed but kind of paralyzed. I want to move and can, but at the same time it is hard to make myself if that makes any sense.

My big problem with it though is after I wake up. I already have very low blood pressure. I have had my blood pressure be as low as 80/50 before the medication. So I have to eat something ASAP and take motion sickness meds (meclizine)

I convinced the doctor to give me a scrip, 2mg every night and no more nightmares, amazing stuff! Lately having meds, a social worker a trauma group and a psychologist has really been laying seige to my PTSD.

I am on Prazosin and it has taken away my nightmares completely. It's great stuff as it is a blood pressure lowering drug. I cannot live without it!

OK, I have been horrible, I have been opening up the 1mg capsule and dumping out a small amount of the medication to reduce the dose. The night before last, I had nightmares so last night I barley dumped any out. Getting out of be this morning was hell.

I was mean and rotten because I woke up with such a horrible headache, and every little sound, even my husband breathing irritated me. Everything just seemed of intense and overwhelming. No nightmares though. But the blood pressure drop when I already have a problem with low blood pressure is a real problem. Back to a lower dose tonight.

I've been doing well on Prazosin and trazodone. I have bad dreams, but I'm sleeping through them. Getting sleep had really helped some of my other symptoms. Still have a long way to go though.
