It's so weird u mention that u usually go with ur family. I used to LOVE July 4th and this is obviously MY post from 2 years ago.

I've moved locations and so have not heard any fireworks yet but have been actively trying to get family members to watch the fireworks with me...

Now you guys have hit me rethinking it. My startle response isn't any better but maybe with family...?

I can tell constant self talk is in my future. Too many traumas related to guns. I know they are only fireworks, but the sound is sometimes so close to a gun . I'm not startling as much as last year, but fighting flashbacks which are bouncing between different traumas is tiring me out. I am trying to believe the sound won't be a part of my nightmares....trying to convince myself of that.
