I lost someone to suicide who was incarcerated for a non-violent crime. I believe that time in Prison led my loved one to suffer from PTSD and I am hopeful that there are others out there willing to share their stories. I believe that parolees should be screened for PTSD and counseled upon release.

I appreciate that prison may well be traumatic, but does your partner believe he/ she has PTSD? Are they seeing a therapist to help them through it?

When you say you love someone to suicide what do you actually mean? Many people or their partners here have attempted suicide, or at least felt the need to. Some are here because they witnessed suicide. 'Loving someone to suicide' sounds extremely unhealthy.

Lucy,
The person who committed suicide likely had PTSD from time spent in prison. They spent time in prison and did not receive PTSD counseling after release because therapy is currently not required. I guess I did not make myself clear.

I agree @samantha. I bet a lot of people in prison have PTSD as it is a very dangerous place to be. A lot of rape and violence occurs there. I would imagine that one would feel that there was a constant threat to their safety. Not providing services creates a larger burden on society as a whole as a result due to repeat offenses as well. If people don't care about the parolee they should at least want to take proactive measures to prevent that.
