I have now been told three different versions of what PTSD is by three different psychologists. 1. PTSD is a long term problem. 2. PTSD is a short term curable problem. 3. PTSD is one problem, there are probably other psychological issues such as personality disorder that need to be dealt with. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Why is it so hard for professionals to AGREE on this ???? Therapeutic approaches differ in each of those scenarios. Is it just a lucky lottery draw if you get the appropriate therapy?

Hi!

Your 'grrrrrr' made me smile, but only because I think we've all been there. If you have the energy to browse the old threads you'll no doubt find an awful lot of differently phrased growls on the same subject. :) Annoying, isn't it?

I'm not a professional, and so would sound like an idiot if I were to 'tell' you anything too finite, but the one thing I've been able to gleen from a bunch of time in this dreck is that PTSD can be manageable to the point of being symptom-free but not really 'curable'. There's a ton of articles on the home page here, and links to others which explain PTSD very well-and without the psycho/medical-babble that can be even more confusing ( well for me anyway :) ).

I hope you do find some answers, and some peace here.

Take care,

Anni
