Progress For Me

This is a small but significant step for me, I was able to make a decision without apologizing.

A little background.

About 2 years ago I started working with my T. I was making progress with her and saw her for a little over a year. She left work to go on maternity leave so I started therapy with one of her colleagues. This worked well but it meant starting all over again. Anyway about 3 months ago my current T was involved in a car accident. She was injured but otherwise ok, however, she couldn't work. I was without any T.

A week ago my current T called me to let me know she was back at work and so was my former T. (the one on maternity leave). She told me I could choose who I saw because I would be starting over anyway and gave me a week to think about it.

After some thought I decided to restart with my former T as we had more trust and had worked longer together. I was able to articulate this, and for the first time in a long time I was able to say it with conviction and without saying sorry!! To make any decision for me is difficult and I was dreading the choice, but in the end I was ok with it.
I even heard feedback from the T I didn't choose that she was proud of my progress and me making a choice!
Asking people permission and apologizing have been huge problems for me but I am getting there

That's great @macbeth - I find decision making really difficult too and am always apologizing for no real reason! Always worrying I'll hurt someone's feelings with my choices or something.

Well done for putting you first - it's great you could take the positives out of both situations. You're very resilient withstanding all of the ups and downs you've been through with therapy lately. But you obviously have worked hard and invested a lot so you deserve the optimum outcome for you.
