I MIGHT TRY TAKING BEFORE A THERAPY SESSION??
That is the current focus of the drugs current application in present trials... will it actually be effective? Time will tell.

I have no doubt though that pharma will not stop until they find a drug to use in that application, because its role would be worth billions annually, as MDMA whilst effective from studies, is simply not practicable and highly restricted, thus a person cannot just get it over the counter with a prescription.

If pharma companies find an existing drug that can cater to relax a person and reduce the fear response in therapy, that is readily available... then it will be on for maximum $$$ for them again... just like when Viagra hit the market.

Ask your Dr. if that is an option? And I am sure the studies involved testing a certain dose - I have not read all of the available info. Maybe you are at a different dose? Or maybe the fear the pill is supposed to stop is for a different kind of memory. Maybe it deals with episodic memory and your fear before a session is a different kind of memory being applied (or not really memory, more just expectation of trouble or something).

At any rate, it sounds like this kind of drug helps with that kind of fear sometimes, for some people. Sorry I misread your post earlier!

Well the issue with that, anthony - at least in the states - is that drug companies can only charge so much for drugs that have been around awhile. They can try to repackage aspirin and call it something different, or change how it delivers the aspirin and apply for a patent or whatever but true professionals will know hey, that's just aspirin, and they will tell the patient to just take the aspirin, not the version that has been changed so they can charge hundreds for it.

Side note but kind of on topic, based on how the thread has evolved: I've heard that University of Alberta found a cure for a form of cancer, but it did not show up on the news, because the drug that worked has been around for years and years so there isn't much money to be made from it.

I took ectasy (MDMA) when I was younger, I can honestly say it was the only time in my life that I can remember feeling good. I would take it again if it was legal. However, Greedy Pharma companies have a lot to research and a lot to answer for. We are all being used as experiments. I am nervous about medications as I am so sensitive to them. I have a rare liver tumour that is related to taking the contraceptive pill.

Thanks doglover, yeah the tumour thing is really freaky, not common and dr's are fascinated by me and continue to use me as a case study, which pisses me off no end!
My therapist is very holistic and believes that the liver holds emotions and sees a relation to my traumas. Through therapy my MRI scans have showed significant changes to the tumour, both increasing and decreasing in size.
Our bodies are amazing, how we hold our traumas in.

Wow that is incredible! Reminds me of the stuff Gregg Braden wrote about in the Divine Matrix. Spontaneous remission of a tumor he saw happen through xray or ultrasound or something like that, due to the chanting of the medical team.

I have had a big knot on my right middle back for about six months now. I'm almost positive I've got trauma pain stored in there. Working on it.

Have you tried mindfulnes meditation. Jon kabat-zin has a book that comes with a cd, there is a body scan section that is really helpful. It can help. You can utube some of his work. It has rought meditation into mainstream medicine. really interesting!!

All original research was done by a University. As I understand it, the military expressed interest in using the medication after a few clinical trials were done with positive results. The military is one machine that I wouldn't hazard a guess on what their real intent is, but yes, when pharmacies find their medications have off-label uses, they will pursue studies.

Sorry to digress but I have recalled a conversation with my previous Phsycolgist who told me that he would prefer that I tried a new SSRI as opposed to an older one that has been around for years, He was really pushing the new one. He said that the old one is good but I really felt him pushing the new one for some reason The £ aspect makes sense sense now!!
IMO there are too many GREEDY Dodgy Pill Pusher Docs .
The only thing that has helped me is Proponal and Valium. Anti D's have done nothing but make me worse...
