There are a ton of articles here, and I know some specific to the body's response to the stress of PTSD. I haven't looked but perhaps GERD is in there? If not, I'm sure a Google search would be helpful. It does make sense, given the whole stress.stomach acid thing, doesn't it? I was pre-ulcer for some years- no dam fun.My now 12 year old son has GERD. His is because of a physical thing, having been born with a badly developed sphincter muscle at the stomach opening. The acid just comes right up the tube, causing GERD, plus he developed horrific cavities due to the pooling of the acid in the back of his mouth while he slept. Oi- you should have seen me explaining to the pediatric dentist that 'No really-we brush his teeth religiously!!!', and watched their sceptical faces.Out of the 3 other children, there was exactly TWO cavities in ten years ( seriously- am anal with teeth ) so knew something was up, besides the cranky baby and the vomiting. You deserve not to be in pain, so do try to see the doc. Maybe he/she will not even send you to a gastro, but wlll have you try some of the plethora of fairly benign meds out there, some of which are OTC now. They're effective, too. My son is a giant now- 5'4". 12 years old ( today- Happy Birthday ) so just rocketed off the top end of the charts. He's not suffering any more, either, which is the point, as you should not be no matter what is causing the GERD.
I would have to imagine that as your PTSD becomes managable. so will your GERD, if it is this taking a tool, rightt? I do hope you feel better, and get some care for this.
