Research Ptsd Anonymous Research Survey

I think you need to stop adding questions... because that in itself nulls and voids all previous responses as unusable.

Research what you want to know, research what questions you need to ask in order to define evidence fore or against your hypothesis, and then leave it alone and allow the results to determine the outcome.

I have doen the survey but must agree with others, it's not very specific in some cases I cannot answer questions correctly. You list an option of 0-2 and 8-10, however some people may be 0 and therefore you have skewed your results, others may be 10+ and therefore they are under representing their condition. I have to agree with the option of either/or for which is the best treatment for an individual. I have only ever had both. Whilst I feel that the therapy is what is helping me most, I am not in a position to be going off meds or stopping therapy to prove/disprove your theory.

I respect what you are trying to achieve however I think you need to go back to the drawaing board (again, it seems).

Rbreed, thank you for taking the survey. I cannot change anything to the survey as it would void the results I have from other participants. Thanks for the advice though!

It is a year later, but I did the survey. I take meds, which help, but psychotherapy helps the most I think. Or, the meds help me be able to take advantage of therapy... if you can understand what I'm trying to say.

I just took it as well. I must say, I like this version a lot better than your first one. I hope you learned some good things here. I wish you luck on your studies.

I've only read the first two pages.

One MAJOR flaw is that you're drawing conclusions before data collection is complete. Forming opinions like this can and will affect your research project.

I assume you're from the states. Therapy wasn't an option for you? Only pills? Is this because of insurance reasons? Here we're able to choose our treatment, so insurance aside, I don't believe your statement to be true. Unless you're saying that the psychiatrist himself would not give you therapy. That's not their job. Psychiatrists give you drugs. Period. Social workers, counselors and psychotherapists give us therapy. Essentially you went to a podiatrist expecting a root canal.

I feel that you need to learn a lot more before delving into such a research project. Your prof may be well intended, but giving a non-psych undergrad student a research project on something that's not even your focus... I see that as irresponsible. I was a psych minor. My university had an excellent doctoral program. Only doctoral students were able to lead research for ethical reasons. Not to mention the fact that it takes a long time to learn how to perform such a project the proper way. I'm not being rude, but I don't think you'll be able to draw any serious conclusions from this sort of research. Perhaps superficial or very general conjectures at best?

I took your poll. It was difficult to give you an idea of how severely disabled some people are. When 36 vets are committing suicide a day (NewYokTimes) the degree of disability should be considered.....to preserve life.
