Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. A little more than a year ago I has a massive, and still unexplained, hemorrhagic stroke. There were no warning signs, luckily it happened when I was still young ( I was 25 when it happened), and very much in good shape, so I have recovered completely physically. I did stay in the hospital for two weeks with extremely limited capacity for speech ( a sentence at most) with extreme difficulty, lost most control over the right side of my body, and could not read, write, walk, and was kind of delirious for about 3 weeks. It took about a year but now I am completely physically recovered.

However I feel on edge when around people I don't know, have trouble sleeping, don't really see my self living past the next 5 or 10 years, don't feel comfortable around large groups of people. All of your classic symptoms with the exclusion of reliving the stroke and nightmares because I blacked out for three days when it happened.

I am seeing a therapist and attempting to work through these issues.

Thank you for reading this and I hope to become a active member of your community.

Welcome @Robomarley1 and what a sad but also inspirational story. You sound like a very strong individual and I hope you find the community here to be just what you need on your road to recovery.

Hello
About two years ago I had a TIA (mini stroke) and at the time I was told it was a warning of a pending stroke, I was kept in the Stoke ward for a week under observation while they did tests, my CT scan came back showing two previous TIA and some scar tissue from both of those, I have loss of feeling on my right side and less strength, So while I was laying there waiting to die they told me that because of my previous TIA's I was in a very high risk catagory to have a massive stroke, lol just what you want to hear while you are laying in the stroke ward, So
It's been two years since that and I have stopped worrying about it, That was not the cause of my ptsd, I stopped worrying about it when large branch fell on my wife crushing her leg and causing a crush fracture,
I understand where you are because I have been there, I am still trying to deal with my trauma.

Thanks all for the support, I have always been a big hugger so hugs accepted. @TonyG Thanks for the words of support, I truly believe that we will all get better. You do not realize how much losing the ability to speak for months takes away the ability to feel like a human being, with the ability to voice your concerns, thoughts, opinions, etc. At least I did not until my event occurred. Luckily my mom understood what I was saying for the first two months when I was really bad.

I live in the upper Midwest and can not wait until the spring when I can bike outside, I have been biking indoors but I just cannot wait until I can feel the fresh air on my face. Just trying to keep busy playing the guitar, and thinking about gardening. Trying to stay positive.
