My name is Chris Daniels from rural SC. I am new to this site but have came here in the past to look at the threads and questions. I am 21 years old but not your typicaly 21 year old. I have a wonderful wife that helps me take care of my dying dad and sick mom. I go to college fulltime for social work and work full time as a chaplain with hospice and pca with an nursing company. No children yet. I am also a local historian and working on three books. The sad truth that lead to this life is my mind goes non-stop and it real hard for me to sleep. I came from a strong miltary family that all died before the age of 60 on my daddy side. I was abused as a child (third generation on my daddy side to go through abuse) both verbale and nonverbale. I suffer an concusion in May of 2009 that changed my life forever. I am the fourth generation the suffer from PTSD and it been in my family since 1942 (When it was called shell shock). The PTSD victims of my family usally dies due to heart failure or heart attack. Many more things happen to lead to PTSD and a lot that comes with it. I am hoping joining this community will help me get through everyday life.

Welcome to the forum, Chris!

You sound like a very impressive young man. Good for you for working on all those things. Best of luck!

From someone who had a similar approach to life as you, please be careful that you don't overwhelm yourself and crash because of too many things in front of you. Especially with PTSD you need to be careful with your energy conservation or it can overwhelm you and lead to a deep depression.

Are you getting follow-up care for the concussion? Medical professionals take concussions more seriously now than they did just 10 years ago. I have concussions regularly because I don't have any inner ear function, that helps without balance. Side effects are are regular headaches that aren't caused by anything else.

Take care!
