PTSD Is Slowly Crippling Me

Glad to find somewhere that I can relate to in relation to a recent diagnosis of PTSD.
My name is Richard and in my early life I was a policeman in Victoria. I live in Montrose.

In the early 70's I was exposed to working in the City Mortuary in Melbourne for a period of six weeks. Shortly after I was assigned to the Mortuary when the West Gate Bridge fell. We processed 19 inwards goods that afternoon.

A couple of years later after surviving a near fatal car accident in a police car I was pensioned off medically unfit.

Now at a mature age of 58 a trigger from the Ash Sat fires has set off PTSD which is slowly crippling me.

My doctor has put me on Avanza but it still hurts.

Any guidance out there, sorry the story is too long for this forum.

I know how you feel, I spent 20 years in the Army here in Aus. After leaving the Army is when my PTSD started. I got a job in the public service but I too was medically retired.

You need a good psychologist and physiatrist with know how to treat PTSD. As far as drugs go I take Lexapro and it has helped me but everyone is different.
