I so need to put that recipe thread in Stand At the Bar... in the morning.. I have Broussard family recipes dating back 5 or 6 generations up to Acadia... Shrimp/Chicken Etouffe is my fave I think... I have one for a creamy crawfish or shrimp Etouffe that will make you wanna lick the dish after...

This song is for my Great Uncle Don who passed away this weekend from cancer....RIP. He was a retired army vet and was almost married for 60 years...sadly he didn't make it that far.

sorry to hear that... my condolences... awesome commerative song for someone you love like that... That was my uncle Leo... there was nothing a little determination and hard work couldn't overcome in his eyes... Here's to your great uncle...

lol when I first read this I was kinda taken aback.. Je m'ennuie can have two meanings... to be bored or weary of something... or to miss it.. lol I was sitting here wondering why ol Bill found me, my culture and food boring.. then I had the context slip into place... (well I hope I am taking it in the right context... I hate to think of my food as boring lol) just kidding Bill,

I didn't jump on this right away because I have been wandering the halls of my mind the last week... opened some very unexpected doors as well...

I left Nichol a note.. "Damn you, Damn your house... everytime I come here it makes me face the facts" meant tongue in cheek of course.. but for some odd reason it does.. maybe it is her incredible spirituality that hangs around after she is gone.. this is for another thread tho..

talking around the forums I have learned quite a few if not most grew up with the same dad... this song always stuck with me for many yrs for that same reason... my going away was being on a plane to bootcamp 2 days after I graduated high school...

yes I am back from my self imposed solitary confinement... one of my humorous military stories.. me and about 5 Docs deployed out with me went clubbing in Haifa, Israel on R&R... somehow we ended up in a semi nice dinner club.... Israeli's love the American military sorts so our t-shirts and the dirty jeans (street crawling lol) were no issue..

Anyway they had this guy up there playing Lawrence Welk stuff (one man band)...

Anyway the chief (E-7) looked at us and said lets liven this up.. lol we went and kicked the guy off the stage and sang this song a capella (that means without a hat) ... 5 or 6 grown ass men drunk as skunks belting out what lyrics we remembered to this song... omg... we got a standing ovation.. had to do two more songs... So one of my claims to fame is I helped bring Karaoke to the Middle East..
