Hi everyone,
My name is Grahem Emerson and I am a final year student doing a Masters in Psychotherapy with Dublin City University. I am currently doing research with Dr. Gerard Moore on the effects of trauma on partners.

We are seeking participants for this research study titled “Exploring the Effects of Trauma on Partners of Primary Trauma Survivors” which is being carried out through Dublin City University.
We are seeking members of the Irish public whose partners have suffered a traumatic experience during their relationship. More specifically, we are seeking people that had been in their relationship for a period of at least one year prior to the traumatic event.
Partners will be invited to participate in a one-to-one recorded interview for a period of one hour in which the participant will be asked:
· How they experienced events during and after the incident?
· How the incident has affected the participant?
· How the traumatic incident has impacted upon the relationship?

Hi Graham

If you are limited to asking for trauma partners from From the Irish public only, you may be very limited to the amount of people able to take part.

This forum is world wide, and while many are partners of sufferers, very few are from Ireland that I know of.

If you could stretch it to further afield, you may have a better chance of participants.

Thanks for the feedback Amethist. I agree with you regarding the constraints of using such a small population to base our sample upon. At the moment we are trying to keep the study within Ireland for ease of interview access but as you rightly point out, we may have to widen this base at a later date and consider online interviewing depending on the uptake.

I am part of a good friendship where I am constantly enduring PTSD episodes from them. I would like to participate and also get information on others like me as well as how to cope with this. This person is a great person, but the PTSD is escalating and we need tools!!!
