I'm 52 and have only recently been diagnosed with PTSD/Complex Trauma from emotional abuse and neglect as a child.

I guess we just do what we have to in order to get through the day.

Hi Gene,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. There are many ways that people deal with PTSD. This site provides a lot of information about ways to cope, improve and heal.

But PTSD is fluent, and there are times we have to deal with it minute-by-minute, or day-by-day. Then there are other times that things go pretty well for days, weeks, months, or even years on end. It is where we are in healing, what is going on in our lives, and the support we have around us.

I think all of us hit those various stages. I had the minute-by-minute, and now can have a few good days in a row. Progress is slow sometimes, but it is still progress.

Take care.
Debbie

Welcome to the forum Gene. It depends on the days and depends on what is going on in my life. It's basically OK today was a good day or simply a :poop: day. All I can say is that this forum has been a lifesaver for me. Like Debbie mentionned, there are articles that demystify what we have, then there are posts/threads that give us the oumff we need to get moving.

Hi Gene,

I have had PTSD for over 27 years though I was only diagnosed 7 years ago. I cherish the good days as a precious thing where as other people might take them for granted. On bad days I tell myself that there will be a good day again soon, grit my teeth and hope. I think it is important to acknowledge the bad times for what they are and joining the forum means we can be totally truthful with people who understand and won't stand in judgement on us. I also like the lighter threads as I find I laugh and feel uplifted despite myself! Hopefully you will find support here.
