I am taking...
Zonisamide 400mg
Sertraline 200mg
Abilify 5mg
Risperidone 4mg

Anyone take any of these meds? How do they make you feel?

I feel great, but my short term memory sucks, I really zone out a lot, and as soon as I take them I am out cold for the night. No more night terrors though and I am finally happy, no depression what so ever. My only question is does that seem like a ton of meds to you, or what?

Well, do they work for you?

I take 5 psychiatrist medications and it's not about how many, it's about how they all work together and allow me to have a life, go to college and get better. They will all probably be life long but I am learning to accept that for a healthy life and healthy marriage. It's just a part of my responsibly with having my mental illnesses and it's the same as my husband's responsibly in checking his blood sugar becasue he has diabetes.

Best wishes.

I notice you edited your first post a lot.

How long have you been taking them? Short term memory can get better, it may take awhile but it can get better. Have you thought about doing memory games?

I take sertraline 200mg too. Works great for me: anxiety attacks etc. are a lot weaker and less frequent and I feel a lot better overall. The only side effects I get are a dry mouth and withdrawal-symptoms (i.e. sudden increase in anxiety in general) when I forget a dosage.

I also take natural meds with valerian-root which really help me calm down in those extra stressful moments.

But I agree with @Ayesha ; if it works for you, why compare it with others? As long as it does more good than damage, I think you really needn't worry about whether or not your medicine intake is "normal".

Ayesha - yes I edited my post to add my question about if people take the same meds and the experiences they have with the meds, as well as to add the effects the meds have on me. :) I have not thought about doing memory games. Where would I find those? I have only been taking them for 3 weeks.

Snowwhite - my anxiety has lessened sooo much as well. I used to have such terrible anxiety and I am so glad it has gotten better. I am still very antsy and have a very short attention span, though. I always have to be busy (for example just watching a movie isn't enough for me - I have to be doing something else to entertain myself as well, such as working on my computer or journaling). Valerian root is a great idea. What natural meds are you talking about - can you just get them in the natural aisle in the store or do you need to get them from a doctor? Also, thank you, that makes me feel a lot better, you are right, I do not need to be comparing it to others as long as it works for me. :)
