Rage Against The (insurance) Machine

Maybe just work on self care for tonight, and tackle the issue in the morning when you have had a bit of time to hopefully sleep and feel a bit more calm?

Did you look into residential treatment centers vs. hospitals? I know they are indeed different in how they treat their patients, and I'm guessing that they're treated differently by insurance, too. When I was in the hospital, I knew a woman who was there to stabilize, and after she was discharged she went on to a residential treatment program (which leads me to believe that they are indeed a bit different.) Of course in regards to insurance, I have no idea how this plays out.

Self care... didn't work quite how it should have but .. I'm still here and bad coping mechanisms are better than the other options.

Feel a little less like napalming everything. Live to fight another day. Right?
Everything hurts. Stupid f*cked up brain.

Popping in really quickly. Totally feel your frustration! If the treatment facility is in-network with your insurance company and they are refusing on grounds of meeting necessity protocols, have you tried having your medical doctor and therapist write a joint letter/statement, or separate letters but submitted together to the insurance carrier? Is there an appeal process? This is the route you may need to take in order to secure treatment. Carriers do, sometimes, back down when compelled by an MD. I've won appeals, so it might be a matter of paperwork and following the process, but in the long run it might work out for you. Also, I agree with another poster who suggested that you give the intake coordinator the overall "real-time" you and what you deal with on a daily basis. No normalizing, just real-time you. Take care. VB
