Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

Ashley Bell - Dean Koontz Harpers Collins Publishers 2015

It's not often that I realise that I have read the work of a gifted writer but with Dean Koontz, I have imho.

There was so much in this book aside from the amazing plot. It was one of those books that I really did not want to end. Unfortunately these days that's rare for me so I really do appreciate the authors ability to hold me within the story.

It's a cross genre - supernatural, thriller, bit of horror but not overwhelming in flights of fancy.

It's a big book 560 pages.. despite the strange title which I suspect would put a lot of people off the book. The title and the cover make sense once you are 90% through the novel...

If you happen across it and remember this post - take it home and give it a try. :)

Camino Island - John Grisham Hodder & Stoughton 2017

I have read quite a lot of Grisham and am a keen reader of his work. He has never let me down before but oh boy! he did this time...

It was superficial and sort of boring. Verged onto the romance genre ..yuk..

The plot was not well developed but there were flashes of the Grisham factor here and there. It almost felt like he was pumping out a novel bc he had to or someone was moonlighting as him.

I'll read more of Grisham but this had better not be his new style bc it doesn't suit him at all. :(
