Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

I can't seem to remember what I read in the last sentence. It's been so difficult for me to read and comprehend what I've read. But some books were suggested by my t so I've been using audible and being read to. It is so much easier to understand. I just listened to an absolutely amazing book by Dr. Bessil Van Der Kolk called The Body Keeps The Score. And Surving to Thriving by Pete Walker. I'm currently listening to The Tao Of Feeling by Pete Walker, all very good books on understanding the effects of trauma, grief and healing trauma. I'm interested in finding more so any suggestions would be great. Tyia

Those are 2 great books @Recovery1st ?

I've had trouble with reading too though it's defo improving. And audible is great isn't it.

You want more trauma related book suggestions? Not all of the following are, but I've either found em helpful or mean to read because others have found em helpful. :)

Healing Developmental Trauma, Laurence Heller

8 Keys to safe trauma recovery, Babette Rothschild

In an Unspoken Voice, How the body Releases Trauma, Peter Levine

The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills Workbook, Matthew McKay,

Start where you are, how to accept yourself and others Pema Chodron

Self Compassion, Kristin Neff

Ooh! And musn't forget Judith L Herman Trauma and Recovery
The first one I read and a great book!

A little rant about audible credits; I cannot spend a credit on 2 hours or under of book :(. I’d be bankrupt. Had to return something today when I saw it was so short. :(. I wish they would do author bundles or something.

So instead I am about to start a thriller called ‘the old you’

A little rant about audible credits

Oh, I'm right there with you! I look for books that are 12 hours long or more. A really good, looong series is The Passage by Justin Cronin. There are 3 books in the series, and all are very long. The story is good too. It's post apocalyptic, but not like the teenage stuff. More in the caliber of The Handmaid's Tale or The Stand. 11.22.63 by Stephen King is very good, if you like him, not nightmarish, and is 30 hours long.

They have a new plan which is a credit every other month. I use that. They also have sales which I sometimes use instead of credits. I listen to a book I've listened to before to go to sleep. There is one voice actor that puts me right to sleep, lol, so I can't listen to him in the car.

5 past midnight, settling for bed, shall take tablets in a mo. After years and years of not being able to sleep in my bed or without the TV on, I've been several years now I can sleep in bed. And just beginning to be able to sleep with an audiobook instead of TV.

This week been mostly listening to podcasts on the workings of the gut. Kind of fascinating!
Night :)
