Recommendations for gentle, easy, humorous TV progs (similar to Superstore, Animal Patrol etc)

I know there have been tv programme/film recommendation threads before but I couldn't find one that's very up to date, so thought I'd post an ask!

I'm not feeling too well at the moment (nothing serious!) and I'm meant to be resting. I'm looking for recommendations for some half hour-ish gentle comedies or dramadies that are easy and fun, that can help me to relax and rest.

I have enjoyed things like Superstore, Kim's Convenience, Animal Control...quite silly nonsense!
I also love Fisk and Colin from Accounts.

I love a lot of other comedies, but it's more this kind of silly, gentle, whimsical, 'I don't have to think while I'm watching it' type stuff that would be useful.

I'm in the UK - have Sky, Netflix, Prime, Apple TV...

Any recommendations much appreciated :-)

(Please don't judge me on my cheesy tv choices!)

I don't know those programmes, so no knowledge here to judge!

When I feel like that, which is currently, I watch Grace and Frankie. must be on like the 10000 rerun now.

And I recently rewatched Schit's creek.

Amusing and gentle.

Romantic
- Hart of Dixie & Virgin River are both about big city docs moving to small towns, more on the romantic side than the funny side, but both are super light feel good series… with fairly long runs.

Girly
- Gilmore Girls (single mom & her teenage daughter)
- Sex & The City
- New Girl (Zooey Deschanel)
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

SciFi is
- Eureka is an older sci-fi New Sheriff in town meets Cheerfully Mad Scientists comedy. Not quite Hitchikers guide, but in the same sort of bent. (What could possibly go wrong?!? Nothing that won’t be fixed in half an hour!). Magically Scientifically invisible town, and the episodic hijinks that ensue.
- Resident Alien
- Santa Clarita Diet (Brainz, eat more Brainz)
- iZombie (Crime Solving Zombie ME)
- I’m notorious for marathoning Doctor Who, (NuWho) when I’m sick.

Fun Crime
- White Collar & Burn Notice (for the first few seasons of each) are fun lovin criminal shows with a “blue sky” filter (never dark, even when the subject matter is dark, it’s all wink and grin).
- Archer (adult-cartoon spies)

Misc Comedy
- Parks & Recreation is classic, also where Chris Pratt got his start.
- 30 Rock
- Big Bang Theory

They are incredibly silly, slapstick and unrealistic to the point of often being ridiculous and unbelievable. I usually go for realism in tv/film. But, for some reason, when I'm feeling delicate and just need to really chill and rest and be still, this stupid stuff seems to hit the spot! My wife has a far sillier, more slapstick sense of humour than me and these shows are too much for her and she doesn't understand why I like them. Ha! Me neither!

Amusing and gentle is definitely the key for me at times like this!

Grace and Frankie if fun. I think we watched the first two or three seasons and then sort of drifted away and forgot to come back. I'd be keen to pick it up again, so thanks for the reminder.

Schitt's Creek is a good call too. I've never watched that but have heard good things. I think there are quite a few series too? So, that would be a good one to try to get into :-)

Thanks for the list @Friday

A few here I'm keen to check out, esp Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock.

Big Bang Theory sounds like it should be a perfect match for my criteria but I've never managed to get into it. I can't really put my thumb on why some silly, ridiculous, over-the-top, unrealistic comedy shows really hit the spot and others really irritate me...for being silly ridiculous, over-the-top and unrealistic! :-D

I watched a couple of eps of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and was warming up to it but my wife wasn't into it, so we stopped watching and I wasn't invested to continue on my own. But I might now give it another go as think I might enjoy it.

My go to easy watches are This Country, W1A and ghosts, all on BBC iPlayer. Have heard good things about 'This is going to Hurt' but it's too hospital triggery for me to watch. I have a bizzare obsession with the hotel inspector and come dine with me so definitely no judgement here!

Emily in Paris 😊
Thanks! My neighbour randomly messaged me this morning asking if I watch Emily in Paris! She said she can't stop watching it! I think I hadn't watched it because I thought I might be too old for it. But based on the criteria I shared in my first post? Quite possibly not! I just watched season 1 trailer and think I will give this a try as it looks silly and easy...and quite glossy!

Ah, yes, I should have added Ghosts to the list of silly things I like! I watched all the UK ones first when I was recovering from a surgery (my wife refused on the grounds that the trailer looked like Rentaghost for adults! Not sure where you are or how old you are to know if you know what Rentaghost was! It was a kids TV prog in the 80s here in UK) Then watched all the US ones through a bout of Covid! Everything about it on paper looks like it would really irritate me...but I love it!

Is This Country the Daisy May Cooper one? It somehow passed me by when it was first on but we both really like her so should give it a watch.

I like The Hotel Inspector too. Alex rocks!

Not to make you feel too old, but I'm about a decade out for rentaghost! 😅

Yes! I randomly found it in the early hours of the morning when I needed something light and easy to watch, ended up getting through the three series pretty quick!
