Responses To Your Therapist That You Will Probably Never Say

I can't help but think at the end of the session if I pay that copay then feeling like saying, "was it good for you?"

Srain, I absolutely CAN NOT write my T a check without thinking of this line now! :roflmao:

I am obviously trying to hold back a giggle every time the session is ending and I am paying her--I think she thinks...Oooo, look how happy I make my patients!:D:p

:roflmao: I haven't laughed so much in ages!! My T has a sense of humour to match my own. I DO say lots of the above things to him but he knows I'm just being sarcastic and we have such a good laugh. Like recently he said the old cliche:

T -'You are doing very well.'
Me - 'Well you're a Psychotherapist, you would say that!'

And another time he said:
T - 'This is all good stuff.'
Me - 'Oh right! My eyes are stinging, my face is puffy, I've used enough of your tissues to to have shares in Kleenex and I've got a gallon of snot streaming from my nose and you think it's good!' We both laughed at that.

Another time he asked me to take a deep breath. He asked if I'd be OK doing it on my own or would I like him to do it too? I said I'd be OK and he feigned disappointment so I reached across and said:

'Would you like to take a deep breath T?'

I'm the most cheeky :sneaky:, sly and sarcastic person I know and he sees right through me. So pleased I found him, he never judges me or takes offense and has helped me through a very rough path. Thanks T!.

Oh wow, as others have said, this has brought me some of the best laughs I've had in a long time. If we can't laugh at ourselves and our helpers sometimes, what's the point...

I too must confess to being very lucky here. My psych very, very rarely annoys me, and he's very good at avoiding platitudes and cliched one-liners, so I don't have a lot to add. We also laugh openly at each other about everything. I particularly like to tell him that when it comes to finding a therapist, you get what you pay for... given that he is a workplace psych and I don't pay him a cent, we always get a good laugh out of this.

One rather amusing and sadly ironic little habit of his is to ensure that the tissue box is strategically placed on the desk whenever i walk in. He knows I'll need it big time, and I notice that its volume doesn't seem to go down too much between my visits, but is always significantly depleted every time I've been. I've often felt that I should start offering to put in petty cash for his tissue supply.

Loving this thread guys.
