My N. has gotten some bad news. A very close friend has passed in the war and he's been asked to give the fllag to the family at the funeral. He's afraid he'll lose it if he isn't drunk when he does it even though he knows it will make it worse.

I'm so far away now that it's. hard to lend the support he needs and it really hurts to know that. I just really hope that he can get through this, I know it will test his inner strength, but if he doesn't it will make him crazy. I guess I'm just asking for some positive energy for him(I'm not exactly the praying type) with the hopes he can make it through the service. :'(

I always tell my fiancée, "Do not take on the responsibility of my emotions or PTSD because it will drain you. Please don't worry I have outlets and it is not your responsibility to fix me, I will fix myself."

Seems like you are in a tough spot emotionally. You have to just let him work it out himself and be there when or if he comes to you. I am sorry you have that going on in your household. I know it is hard not to worry but he will get through this one way or another.

Its more that I know how hard this will be for him and I can't physically be there even just to give him a reassuring hand squeeze than it is me taking on his emotions, but I can see where you're coming from. I know he can do it, he's a strong man, I just don't like being this far away right now :/
