Sent to HR due to panic attack.

New Here
Today I got sent to HR due to an incident of being overwhelmed by packing by myself while the belt of trays of apples was going too fast and a approaching supervisor kind of critiqued me instead of helping me out.

I did try to explain my situation although I was in a bad head space so I wish I was more detailed like how I was with this thread. According to the HR lady, she first started out saying the supervisor claimed "I let the apples fall on the ground and had them bruised." Which is a bunch of BS because my partner was no longer with me and I was clearly struggling. Also my doings wasn't intentional.

I just hope I don't get written up considering I was written up back in December for my isomania problem due to depression and trauma from a boss I am very uncomfortable around which thankfully he no longer works in my area. (yet) I will admit it isn't my first time getting called in due to a panic attack. I have tried my very best to not let things get to me which I think I did a good job until days ago.

I have been working for this company for nearly 7 years by now. Despite the length, I still feel like I am made redundant and not many recognize my hard work due to being lower of the totem pole.

Of course, I know some will point out it's just a job but I still think everyone deserves to be treated equal respect regardless of their rank and leaders should be able to just step in and help out like a team.

There is nothing wrong with giving out criticism. However, there are points in a situation where clearly it is not the worker's fault instead of how the company operates; quantity over quality. For a while now the operators aways run the machinery too fast to get the product out. Which is understandably the goal of the company but often times it can create QC problems. Last month we almost lost a contract with Costco due to being too many undersized or oversized bags.

Why does your work send people to HR? In my workplace if there is a performance issue (and not saying that there is with you), then it's for the manager and the staff member to talk about that and resolve it.

Being sent to HR seems quite a punative and worrying thing to do? Anyone would be worried about that never mind someone with PTSD. I'm sorry your work place is like that.

I don't know what country you are in and what workers rights there are. In the UK you have the right for reasonable adjustments if you have a health need but that means telling them and trusting they work within the law.....

What would you like to see differently to feel better at work, and how is it possible to achieve that?

Unfortunately, I am from the US and we have that dumb "work at will" law. I imagine some accommodations (which I currently don't have) would help me out but I guess it depends on the company's guidelines.

Over here, Human Resources focus more on protecting the company instead of the workers. Hence why on Reddit threads you will see the "HR is not your friend" saying thrown around. I don't know if that's also the same in other countries. We barely have any unions so unfortunately there's a lack of workers rights.

Honestly, I feel it's tricky to feel better at my fast paced and physical job. I will say I have had my good days when the work wasn't too hectic. Most of the time I feel overstimulated and the 10 hour shifts do feel like a drag. Thankfully, I am usually off Friday which is something.
