She's Dry!!

My three year old has been taking on the huge task of potty training. She told me last night that she wanted to sleep in her big girl underwear. I was a little worried because it would be her first time attempting this feat but my little girl did it! I know all parents are proud when their kids do something but I can tell you from personal experience I cried this morning when she came to me and told me she was dry!

I told her if she keeps it up the rest of the week using the potty and being dry when she wakes up she is going to get a present. She wanted these Dora underwear last time we were shopping and I think those and maybe something else will be her present for being a big girl.

I am just so proud of my little girl right now!

It is wonderful when they take it upon themselves to do this.

One thing I learnt with my 2 girls when they were at this stage, was to not make a fuss, but a joke if they did wet the bed. Asking them how big the bed pond was this time, and how many frogs were in it. They thought this was hysterical, and soon stopped wetting the bed, as they were waking up to use the potty left in there room for them over night.

Less fuss, quicker results.

If she doesn't make it this time, it's a lesson in persistance, frustration tolerance, keeping a positive self-image in the face of failure and tolerating delayed gratification, so basically it's a win-win situation - though the little one would beg to differ, I guess :D

As a chronic bed wetter, I'm holding my fingers crossed for her :)
