David Cameron will be attending an international summit on sexual violence on the internet...show him, the UK and the rest of the summit how strongly this needs to be dealt with...

The petition only needs less than 150 signatories currently but lets hit his one way out of the park......
Now is the time to do it.....this year, with the increasing rate of horrifying insidious violence against women and children being reported it seems the public have reached a critical mass of exposure which mus be used for change. Even Google are being forced back into the debate....leave them in no uncertain terms...If the level of surveillance that PRISM provides can exist then child porn on the internet should not.

This petition is not just for UK residents/citizens.....anyone anywhere in the world can sign it...In fact, the more diverse the signatories the better because in some countries if this isn't being addressed or more optimistically it already has been, then the UK needs to be made an example of, quickly and emphatically.

I am not going to sign this. Despite being raped many times I do not think pornography had anything to do with my experiences. Pornography, even violent pornography, has actually been linked with lower incidences of sexual assault. People who make pornography are usually consenting adults. They can have any kind of sex on camera they want to have.

I get why people don't like it. I think the correct thing to do when you don't like it is to not watch it. I think it is inappropriate to say, "I don't like this/find it upsetting therefore no one else should be allowed to have it."

I don't want to live in that world. I will not be signing.

I do understand your viewpoint rightkindofme. If it was not for the fact that I don't think children will be adequately protected I would be conflicted about it. And its more complex than I care to discuss. But for me child protection is the first priority.

If its banned, it will go underground. Banning rape pornography won't stop it. It may be a little harder to access, true, but anyone who wants it will still be able to get it.

That is true, but it is the same as saying that it doesn't help to make murder against the law as people will still murder, or steal, or ....

The difference between murder/theft and simulated rape is the consent of the participants. I don't think that is a reasonable comparison.

As long as you are talking about consenting adults doing something I don't think it should be legislated against.

I was saying that just because 'it' will still be done / committed / made available despite measures to curb it, is not sufficient argument against not instituting measures. I could have used any example, such as signing a confidentiality agreement, or ...
