News Siri Can Now Help You If Raped

Updates earlier this month made a huge improvement to Siri and the way she responds to sexual assault.

After research showed Siri and other smartphone assistants did not understand confessions of rape or abuse, Apple updated its service to include softer language and resources for sexual assault survivors. Through a partnership with the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), Apple updated Siri just days after the study was released to now provide a link to the National Sexual Assault Hotline, a huge step from her previous response.

Per the article quoted, confession is a bizarre and disturbing term to describe the person and their intent trying to access help after a sexually assault.

Good that Apple and Rainn are involved helping first words input and referral to help.

I was actually kind of surprised that it didn't already do something like this... but hey, recognition and solving the issue so fast, is awesome for Apple IMHO, and for everyone using an iPhone. There is an entire generation now reliant on technology... it may as well do good.

I hope info about this is being spread far and wide. It can be far easier to admit you've been raped/abused to a phone versus going to get help in person. Good for Apple!

This is awesome! Now Im leaning more toward apple but watch google come out with something simular to compete. I actually hope they will so its across both.
