Site Upgrade

I will add... any media you want that you have linked in the media section, please bookmark the actual URL at YouTube or such, as that section is getting trashed due to be old, obsolete and just plain awful software. There is a new media section which allows video + images to be added into community albums that will be installed. A much nicer, forward looking media software.

The forces video will get put back... just in case someone is thinking otherwise.

All the upgrades are going to be sweet, Thanks Anthony.

Perhaps, and I'm only playing devils advocate here, some of people's problems at this point may also be due to the versions of windows, linux or which browser they're using. Just a thought for the troops. Even one's hardware can have an effect if it isn't updated at least with new software.

Actually, this update is fully backwards compatible with older browser versions as well as mobile / tablets, to ie6 level and upwards, AND, you will now have a functional WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor in your mobile and tablet devices, not just a text field for typing like you have now. The current editor is old and pitiful and doesn't play nice on all browsers, let alone non-existant on mobile devices.

Server software has nothing to do with accessibility... it is purely the HTML/CSS you get at your browser. That is all coded for backwards compatibility. Sure, it may be ugly in places on really ancient browsers, but it will function and be viewable.

This is one purpose of the upgrade, especially with PTSD Forum... as this forum is already backwards compatible and nothing will really change here in that sense, other than the editor becomes available. PTSD Forum will become more accessible.

Heh, I am a Mac user.

I had fixed it because I could access the site :). Just wanted to let you know, because of the upgrade and it was odd behavior.

The fix was.

Clear cookies.

Quit Firefox.

Restart Firefox.

After reading your post I also turned off Nazi mode on my firewall.

Thanks again

Figured as much, but figured it might help for reference.

  • HTTPS now completed. Site pages without video or externally vulnerable material linked, will be secure sessions for members. Basically, this secures login and registration for all members to reduce risk of hacking accounts.
  • Single Sign-On removed. I am hoping that this removes a lot of issues in people coming across sites spamming / posting here when they shouldn't be.

Not yet finished...

To do (All Priority):
  • Tapatalk has not yet released an updated version of their software to support Xenforo 1.2. When they do, it will be.
  • Moods should be back, I'm just trying to get its performance improved significantly.
  • Currently working on getting the new media gallery up. It caters video & images.
  • Fix link color in messages.
  • Change text color for viewed too many threads as guest, register page.
  • Add "Veterans with PTSD Only" to registration page.
  • Fix video responsive width portal.
  • Fix media mobile alignment and sidebar alignment, needs collapse. (developer issue)
  • Add collapse hide to mobile sidebar.
  • Add network page and tab that will default across all sites.
There are too many new features to mention all. Some are:
  • Similar thread (both at the footer of threads and when starting a new thread, will appear)
  • @tagging other members. Just type the @ symbol and being writing their name, and a list will appear to automatically tag that user in your post, thus they will get alerted.
  • You should check your profile settings for new features and settings as well.
  • All replies are now auto saved every 60 seconds into a 24hr draft which you can retrieve in that time period. After, it is automatically deleted. So no more losing posts due to anything...
  • Fully responsive mobile style that should be compatible with all fairly current mobile phone browsers.
  • Enormous performance improvements made, focused on speed, speed, speed.
  • Chat minor changes...
  • There are toggles on many blocks (right side) for you to minimise. It will remember your choices on the device accessed. Mobiles don't like toggles... as mobiles are for basic functionality, not advanced. If a toggle fails, it will disappear and open the container for viewing by default on a mobile device. Basically, you may not be able to toggle on your mobile phone.
  • Collapsible quotes when they exceed a certain depth to save space.
  • Lots of stuff... if in doubt, ask and I will explain.

To curb some of the spam issues you get from time to time, I've installed the same anti-spam system here that PTSD Forum runs, except with lower settings as this site is less strict. Members will have to do some posting, being liked naturally and meet some other criteria that you would achieve in normal posting, before they can post links anywhere. That should deter most spammers who just want to stop in to advertise their latest combat treatment or such.

It is fairly robust... stopping even those w.w.w.l.o.o.k.a.t.m.e.c.o.m type approaches. It is quite up their for spam prevention.

Once you're over the threshold, then there are no restrictions.
