Site Changes

Just FYI, there are still processes running in the background, which have been since I went to sleep last night, rebuilding stuff, updating things. Big site, lot of content... a lot for a server to process and get through. One of those is some new image optimisation, converting everything old to the new webp format, for faster serving of images as a first to cache and then from cache. I am hoping, fingers crossed, everything is completed by end of today for me. There is some database and PHP optimisation going on to the side... but that is mostly automated with little input by me and no effect to you, the user.

AI Systems

The AI is now upgraded to use the latest 4o model from ChatGPT. That means its smarter, much smarter, which helps its programming deliver better quality to the end user. It can now handle more memory, more input and output, far less hallucinations (mistakes).

Remember, this is not the same as using ChatGPT online, not even if you pay for it. Using it via API allows very specific programming use and direction for its outcome. Simply put, the outcome quality is vastly different via API integration.

Featured Content

Staff can now feature content they deem is a good discussion, or has the potential to develop into a good discussion, it just needs to be seen more. Staff discretion, they can feature anything (permissions will apply so nothing from members or private as it defeats the purpose).

The widget is on the site home and between the existing two on the post view pages. The home can hold six, the post five. Once it is full, the bottom drops off as a new one is featured. All are available from the feature page, but that is buried and useless IMO.

I find this could be good when staff read something new, think it is interesting / different discussion, so they feature it to see what happens. That is the idea.

If it doesn't work, I will drop it and replace it with trending or such.

Worked for me, which says its a cache issue on your browser. Drop it, try again. This is the issue with old designs in the browser when new designs are released. This new one uses little javascript now, making it much faster to do stuff.

For whatever reason…possibly something I’m doing (ok probable) when I open up New Posts whoever is on top their icon disappears. Even if it was just there because I looked at the top one.

Have you dropped your browsers cache between the update?
I’m guessing you mean me? I did yesterday when the site went down. But seeing this I did it again. The first persons new post still doesn’t show, weirdly my icon shows as the small “you’ve posted here” icon.

Did you drop your cookie too? Login again fresh? The entire login security system was changed with the update, along with the entire template system. Basically, nuke your cookie and cache in the browser you're using, refresh the site, start new. I dropped all the cache at the server and CDN, so its all fresh.

Basically, if it was a site issue, everyone would get it vs local is your browser cache and cookie.

I hadn't but I did just now... Still the same issue tho... Maybe it will resolve over time...

Thank you for keeping this site running! 🙏
