Sleep Terrors - Does Anyone Else Deal With Them?

For those who might not know, a sleep terror is when your body wakes up from a nightmare, and you act out the nightmare without knowing what you are doing.

So, has anyone found a non-drug treatment for these? I am using mirtazapine currently, and that certainly is helping, but I am wondering if there is any way to stop them without having to rely on drugs.

I used to have horrible nightmares and had episodes of sleep paralysis even before I was traumatized, so my grandmother told me that I didn't have to go through that. I asked how that was possible, and she told me that I can change my dreams, so I did. I've been lucid dreaming ever since and haven't had a nightmare in years.

I have night terrors related to the ptsd. I also am a chronic insomniac and I sleep walk. I recently tried Valerian Root, but I found that it made my dreams and terrors more intense. I was dreaming a lot about the past which was really stressful. I then tried lemon balm in tincture form. I find that paired with melatonin I tend to sleep a few more days a week and the dreams are few and relatively harmless. Right now I am growing lemon balm so I can tincture it myself.
