So... Canniboids

There are some real good documentaries out there on cannabis. Israel has taken real huge in roads into harnessing the power of THC alone for use as a pain killer.
The problem out there at the moment is the level of THC. There was a saying going around

'Your not smoking your dads pot now'.

Back in the day, around when Jarhead was born, the THC content was probably less that 5%. Now it can range from 5 to 20%. Then add all the cross breeding with other herbs.

Agreed. Truthfully, I think your numbers are a bit low Jimmy. We ran a few samples through a mass spectrometer last semester as part of an organic chemistry experiment and were shocked to see solubized THC levels around the 40-70 percentiles by resin volume directly off the plant. This is astounding chemically but not too shocking given there is only a few atoms difference between glucose and THC....

For an intersting bit on the history of cannibis cultivation, watch the show "The Botany of Desire" They actually discuss THC and PTSD as part of the cannabis sativa quarter of the program. There is a book of the same title with even more details, but I doubt most folks would find it interesting reading. (Tulips, Apples and Corn are discussed in addition to Weed.)

Can only speak from my world, but.......Some good points here worth taking on board. For me it's the only thing that seems to work, as in switch off. I've tried pretty much too many prescribed meds that do shit.

Alcohol is destructive (for me, anger, destructive rumination etc), but after years of pot it's like anything else....too much is too much and it is habit-forming if not physical addiction but is habit forming. It's a big de-motivator for starters, so I've learned to try to save it for when the day is done, all tasks squared away, kids are in bed and try to take longer regular breaks from having any at all.

Would love to spend rest of my life in a smoker's haze tbh, but that's not realistic and isn't going to square away what matters; family, filling your day with anything you can look back on with any pride. So now take longer and longer breaks from it, because I guess like anything the more you do it the more numb to it's effects, good and bad, you become.

There's something in it that ticks a box imho. Growing smoking it misses the point, if the Israeli's are gripping it as it having benefits interesting to where that leads.

In summary. :)
1. I love pot. It works for me.
2. Meds from doc don't seem to. Alcohol is worse.
3. It's habit forming.
4. It's a demotivator for me.
5. I take breaks for weeks at a time.
6. I don't smoke until day is done.
7. There's something in it that needs researching further.

Mate, if it works for you then great. I know a lot of veterans who only smoke at the end of the day or on weekends.

It started that way for me too, but the anxiety levels went through the roof and I was spending my day from sun up to sun downs in a haze.

I can't wait for the governments around the world to investigate it better. It is a natural growing herb after all.

Please note that here in the US there IS a legal prescription form. Yes, legal in every state and Federally too... Brandname is Marinol/Dronabinol. a casule form of 9-THC which is the type we have been discussing. This is an anti nausea drug for chemo patients...

Enjoy laughing as hard as I am when reading the "overdose" side effects lists...

The first time I smoked I experienced a lot of anxiety. But after a few times, the anxiety faded and smoking allows me to calm down.

Similar to Matt_764 I experienced a lot of anxiety at first, but now its calmed down and it really really helps me sleep (knocks me the F*&% out!). My girlfriend is slowly accepting it as opposed to me drinking (but just the illegal aspect of it bothers her). It is a great medicine...for some people.

somebody bitched at me the other day about how smoking its gona give me cancer coz theres no filter blahblahblah

so i went and got a vaporiser.

f*ck you cancer

My OSAC psych said research shows Cannaboids help calm you down and help with PTSD, only problem is that THC actually can lead to psychosis. I know this first-hand. Problem is weed helps, while the rest of the pills have put my liver Fat and my right kidney under medication and observation.

People want to make it seem like PTSD is a broken hand or something. It's not going away. Trading a medication that might kill you for a mental disease that will a. kill you, b. ruin you and/or those around you, c. cause physical problems because STRESS kills. It creates GERD, IBS, skin infections, psychosis, inmsonia. So just do what works for you, and know this.

The people at the VA and DOD have no f*ckING IDEA how to cure this. They swear by their doctorates and Seeking Safety books that there is a cure. There isn't. There are just ways to cope better with it everyday til to the outside world you seem normal again.

Alex, I am actually glad you got a vaporiser. It actually heats it and does not burn it therefore reducing some of the harmful chemicals. The onlyl problem though is finding the right breed and strength for you.
The main problem I had with weed, and I owned a vaporizer, was that I needed more and more to achieve the same level. It also relaxed me so much that I was not doing what I needed to for my boy, and I was a single dad.
I also smoked or vapored all day every day from sun up to sun down and into the night. Some days when the drugs are not working I wish I could go back.
