Well hell it is up to you. You know and only you how much you can take. Think about what it's doing to you health. Stress, anxioty, and depression can be linked to all sorts of illness they weaken your amune system. So find a shorter one or go after that one I do know that unless you sign some kind of contract and you voluntarilly went in they can not keep you when you are ready to leave. Quit pussy footing and call and get some real numbers on length of stay, cost, and what ever the hell you want to know. Then you can decide from there.

LK1, I had a mate who completed the 8 week PTSD course here in Australia.
About a year afterwards, he took up a part time job with Red Cross as a volunteer. He absolutely loved it.
He could work when he wanted, didn't have any hassles.

He then got offered a full time position. I warned him that once he took on a full time position he would have a boss, and would also be placed in stressful situations. He disregarded me. He only lasted 2 weeks in the job and nearly punched out his boss.

The morale of my story mate is that PTSD, especially untreated PTSD is like mixing chlorine with break fluid. Especially trying to start a new job.

In my honest opinion, I would be seeking help first, learning to manage your symptoms, and then try to work.
Most guys and gals here in Australia who are diagnosed, hardly work again. You can, but the stress takes its toll.

Anthony, the founder of this site did his course in 2005. He works from home, and even though he has dealt with the majority of his traumas, he still has bad days.

But LK1, if you really want, give it a go, its totally up to you.

Hello Brother where you been. Any progress on treatment? I don't work right now. It was easier to work when I wasn't getting treatment. I could work buy beer on the way home stay buzzed till I fell asleep and do it all over again. On my weekends I stayed buzzed. Found out the hard way that doesn't work. I hope you can find a middle ground and get treatment and work if that is what you need to do.

I don't work and can't work. I tried doing volunteer work at the local RSPCA (Animal shelter), driving their animal ambulance. But there was a bitch out there who started harping on about timings and behavour. I told them to f*ck off.
I don't have the tollerance mate.

IF you can manage work and recovery then you are a better man than me.

I'm going to switch psychiatrists and go to the hospital. My poor parents.

Good, I think I may need to switch mine also. My med doc said on friday that he doesn't understand how I can even function on the meds I'm on. Trazodone, lithium, lamotrogine, omeprazole, zolpidem tartrate, meloxicam, diazepam, and hydrocodone. There are three others just for my lungs. He said that was all these one to counteract the others side affects drugs is not right. So it is time for a change or else I won't be able to decay when I'm dead.

Its good to change MD's and even Head Doc's sometimes. Find someone who knows PTSD, especially combat related. Even if it means travelling. I have been lucky, but I know guys who travel 500 km to see my Psych.

Two years ago I was on 200 mg Zoloft, 1000 mg Epilim, 60 mg Avanza, and Stillnox to sleep.
I was a zombie. Then I switched to POT, LMAO. Glad I got rid of that monkey off my back.

Soon I hope to be able to reduce everything.

Jimmy

They are all school in PTSD. But they could be specialized in scitzophrenia. If they specialize in ptsd but not combat stress they won't do. You can find the ratings of most psyciatric professionals on-line. A good place to look is to contact the disabled american veterans in your area and let them do the leg work.

Guess what?! I'm f*cking free. I beat it. I said NO MORE! And it went away. I know it sounds like a miracle but these things happen. It was worse than ever and I said THAT'S IT!!!! NO MORE!!!! And it dropped away!
