So Sick - Cannot Sleep

For whatever reason, around my period, I get SO SICK to my stomach and I end up throwing up for 24-48 hours nonstop. Whenever I try to close my eyes and sleep, just as I am hitting 5 minutes, my body rushes awake and I throw up, my legs kick me awake, I wake up shouting for help...
I have been doing SO great with my PTSD therapist and I'm afraid that tonight is going to push me back to my worst. I have slept 10 hours a night for the last month and a half, and now I'm afraid I won't sleep again like before.
It's hard not to lump everything together into "THE TRAUMA IS HERE AGAIN I KNEW IT WAS COMING BACK!"
I am looking for some reassurance that I won't go back to my trauma. That I am safe, even though this is so so hard. Thanks. My spouse is away for the week and these long scary nights are a lot to do alone.

That sounds more like a hormonal thing than a PTSD thing. Meaning one would expect a symptom spike to go away when the hormones settle , rather than stick around. Which sounds like what’s been happening, if this happens consistently at the same point in your cycle.

Agreed, Zofran (Ondesetron) sublingual tablets & Compazine (Prochlorperazine) transdermal patches are 2 of my faaaaaaavorite things! :inlove: Love. Love & adore.

Talk to your OB/Gyn, though. She/He May have you trial birth control pills (or switch what you’re on) so you have neither mood swings/insomnia nor nausea.

Hi. Thank you for these replies. When you say you take meds for nausea, does that mean you also get it with your cycle? I never heard of this before I got it!

No, I take Zofran for nausea due to other causes. It works on some types of nausea, not so much for others.
