Spinning Room During Dissociation

Earlier today I had a therapy session and we were diving into my childhood thought process (and comparing it to now[spoiler alert: it hasn't changed much]) I've noticed that I've done this a lot in the sessions where I'll speed through my past, talking about the type of stuff that happened or stressful events, and then move on. So today my therapist slowed me down and had me question what my younger self may have felt during the specific event.. and it was like a switch. I was rushing through everything and all of a sudden I had to stop, slow down, and think.. then I started to dissociate fairly quickly.

It's a new sensation for me. Usually when I dissociate I get a chill, it feels like I'm getting tunnel vision even though I'm visually not seeing it. (my body feels like I'm being sucked backwards), time seems to slow down and I enter a trance state. But I've noticed recently that for the last few times I dissociated I would feel a flush of warmth throughout my body, the room starts to look.. "wavy" or distorted. Feels like the room is spinning and I have to hang on to something. I still get the distant, trance like feeling and sometimes it's hard to understand people. It was embarrassing dissociating in front of my therapist and I'm used to that happening only around my friend.. haha. Anyways, I was wondering if other people have had a similar sensation or a different one?

Happened to me last session...room started spinning as soon as he pressed a triggering issue. I dissociated so badly that session, he had to ground me before he'd let me leave. Thankfully I don't get too embarrassed about dissociating in front of T, that's how he knows he's on a good subject. And the more I dissociate in session, the less I do so in everyday life. Good luck!

It happens to be infact its happened on and off all day today. Bad body flashbacks to when I was 5. Stomach knot and sever pain emotionally, and physically. I have to wait till the 20th to get meds, but I'm going to try prozac. It helps a lot of people. It will get better. Thats what they tell me anyway. I am glad your doing it in therapy it is important to work ot out whike your body is back in time....

I get dizzy in two ways when I dissociate: like I am the one that is spinning (usually when I'm trying to move in or out of a part voluntarily), or like the room is spinning (when a part is trying to take over without my permission).

So yes, this happens to me.
